Re: Well-Designed Vehicle Bug-Out-Bag
Maybe is ok for the police but for myself I'd rather carry it on my back.

Re: Well-Designed Vehicle Bug-Out-Bag
Maybe a Polaris 6x6 ATV is the ultimate?
http://www.polarispowersports.com/art/sportsman-6x6.jpg Put a Ramsey 3,000 lb winch on the thing and you can carry 600 lbs of gear, and get unstuck from almost any obstacle. They will tow a small trailer and are pretty easy to tow, even behind a car or RV. if you have a 4x4 truck with a full length bed, they will fit right in. At about 600 lbs, you have another 3/4 or 1/2 ton of weight to carry in your "mothership". If you calculate a 50 mile range per tank, one of these critters could take you way up the trail in a matter of a couple hours. Do you know that they will cross swampy land very handily? Not like the thing is a boat, but for travelling up a shallow stream or crossing a narrow piece of swamp, they can't be beat. A freighter canoe also has great posibilities as a vehicular bug out bag. Nice to have an outboard motor bracket on that baby and a 5hp Evinrude. If I was looking to have a Kit, to carry stuff like Book shows in his pix, I would go for a Photographer's Vest and some kind of suspender set up butt bag. The Army Surplus H pattern suspenders, a web belt, and a butt bag with a holster or couple of magazine carriers would work. Most importantly, both hands would be free. Hell, who wants a pistole? A rifle or carbine is what you want in your hands. |

Re: Well-Designed Vehicle Bug-Out-Bag
Book,
No disrespect meant. I can see that bag being ideal for sitting on the tranny hump on the floor. Very handy. Can't see holding tight to the straps on the move. Unwieldy, heavy, and awkward. I won't post anymore on this thread. But, any bag you expect to have with you , at all times, had better leave both arms and hands free. I tend to think of every vehicle as being a "bug-out bag". I mean, you are likely to really need more than what you can carry in one load if you intend to live in the wild. My ultimate bug out bag would be a 45' ketch rigged steel hull sailboat with about a 18' beam. That baby would carry some weight! Yet, last week at a resale shop, I got 2 US GI aluminum pack frames for $2 ea. I have a med and lg GI pack, also got at resale for $5 or so. I figure the packracks could mount on a bike frame with just a bit of effort. Or they could hang from the fender of a 6x6. We take a bigger "carpet bag" with us whenever we go to town. Not full of guns or mags, those are separate; this one is full of medical stuff, snacks and other essentials my wife has to have in case of emergency or urgent need. Amazing how often having stuff with you helps. |

Forgot my favorite-the M29c Weasel, but really I like them all,my only problem is MPG and with the rising cost of powder, and brass, the 88 is no longer used on a daily basis. And yes, I am willing to sell a few off.

Re: Well-Designed Vehicle Bug-Out-Bag
Yes. Quite a good thread on Bug-Out Vehicles.
Prag EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle The EM-50 is one of those vehicles seen on screen that added so much to the given production but was seemingly ignored by the genre press. Based on a GMC motor home, the EM-50 carried a cannon, machine guns, flame throwers, missiles, and all manner of infantry weapons. It also featured hideaway armor plating which would cover the windows and other vulnerable points when going into combat. It also featured a fully equipped communications and navigation suite. Designed to prowl urban areas without attracting attention, the EM-50 could quickly deploy its weapons before an enemy knew it was there or realized what it was. |

Prag,
Always loved this particular vehicle in 'STRIPES'... |

Paybacks are a bitch.

Re: Well-Designed Vehicle Bug-Out-Bag
I think the "featured" bug-out BAG would stick out like a sore thumb in a road block situation, etc. Might as well wrap a towel around your head on the way out the door or wear a Ninja outfit. That's about how well your bag will "blend in". If the clips weren't hanging out the side it would flash "Search Me!!!" Just for kicks take it through an airport next time you travel.
I think something like this would be better. http://f3c.yahoofs.com/shopping/mcid..._____D7XSYE3Z2 Prag</IMG> |

Soo you are saying I SHOULDN'T wear my 'old man' (white and blue) kafir (head towel?) like Arafat ?
Bad form or just stupid? UNLESS the roadblock is in Afghanistan? Or some other M E country? Bring back by a friend of mine. Special request, hard to find as they are very 'old man' type of wrap. :bandit: |
